It is an historical and analytical error to treat Israeli militarized state formation as a static edifice that periodically unleashes the dogs of war upon Gaza, East Jerusalem, and the West Bank. The occupation and sequential collective punishment of the people of Gaza for the acts of the armed few have become the necessary conditions of reproducing Israeli counterinsurgent governmentality in which theocratic-militarized state formation requires exclusionary surveillance, sieges, and occupations for its own self-definition, technocratic evolution and financing, and internal hegemony over the Israeli body politic as a consenting adjunct of the military-theocratic complex.

This injunction against public statements of support for the Palestinian cause, however, reveals more about the anxieties of the pronouncers, advocates, and enforcers of this ban than it does about the anti-colonial struggle for which Palestinians are fighting, dying, and living. Such an injunction signifies the total bankruptcy—political, moral, and intellectual—of the Israeli project in whose defense the commandment is enacted. In other words, the enforcement of such a ban is based on an implicit recognition that its supporters do not have any intellectual, moral, or political ground on which to stand, no persuasive arguments in which they themselves believe to offer in defense of the Israeli war on Gaza.

Operation Al Aqsa Flood surprised the entire world, shattering fallacious assumptions that Islamic resistance in Palestine lacked political efficiency and latitude. Remarkably, the operation exposed the hostile political agendas operating behind prior diplomatic pretenses, precipitating the downgrading of what was previously considered supreme colonial force to a negotiated space given Islamic vigilance. This latter phenomenon can be found in France, where the operation definitively destabilized French imperial ambition in the Muslim world.

Gaza is a case of settler colonialism, and like every other colonial endeavour, it is a matter of race. Gaza is also an issue of Islamophobia. On each one of these counts—colonial genocide, racial dehumanization, and Islamophobic demonization—western feminist movements have turned their back on Palestinian women’s resistance, on their struggle for justice and for an end to the occupation. It is the steadfastness of Palestinian women themselves, whether in Gaza, the rest of Palestine, or in the diaspora, that is energizing the resistance today. And they are a critical force in the collective resistance against not only Israel, but also against the western institutions that are making common (but ultimately ineffective) cause in their efforts to silence and punish—against their own stated mandates—those opposing the genocide that seeks to erase Palestinian existence.

হামাসের ৭ই অক্টোবরের ইসরাইল আক্রমণ মুহূর্তে ভারত ও মিত্রদের দীর্ঘদিনের কর্মযজ্ঞ ও পরিকল্পনা সম্পূর্ণ অনিশ্চয়তার মুখে ফেলে দেয়। পাশাপাশি ভারতকে বিলিয়ন বিলিয়ন ডলারের বিনিয়োগ থেকে বঞ্চিত করে। এমন জটিল পরিস্থিতিতে ভারত সরকার ও ভারতীয় হিন্দুদের ইসরাইলে পক্ষে দাঁড়ানোই স্বাভাবিক এবং যে হা.মাস মুভমেন্ট তাদের এতো বড় অর্থনৈতিক ও ভূ-রাজনৈতিক ক্ষতির জন্য সরাসরি দায়ী— তাদের বিরুদ্ধে উদ্ভট সব গুজব ছড়ানো অস্বাভাবিক কিছু নয়। এহেন পরিস্থিতিতে কোনো কোনো উগ্র ভারতীয়ের ইসরাইলে গিয়ে সরাসরি হা.মাসের প্রতিরোধ যোদ্ধাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ার ঘোষণাও অবাক হওয়ার মতো বিষয় নয়।

Since 1955 Palestinians have continued to fight Israel’s invasion of Gaza and the violent assaults on the West Bank, as well as to resist its efforts at forcible transfer of the population of Gaza to Egypt. Israel has exacted a terrible price since October 7th. In addition to relentless threats from the air, those in Gaza also suffer a near-total blockade on food and supplies into the area with mass starvation looming in January of 2024. They continue to ask the world to intervene and prevent more Israeli violence against them. South Africa has now taken the case of Israeli genocide in Gaza to the International Court of Justice. They are utilizing the values of the resistance of the colonized to European power in a European judicial setting to expose the hypocrisy and mark a new turning point in the decolonization of this planet, to enforce limits on what Israel and the U.S. can do to a Muslim and Christian people facing annihilation at the hands of two interlocked colonial-imperial powers.

জর্মান দর্শনগুরু মার্টিন হেইদগর তাঁর “বিয়িং এন্ড টাইমে” অস্তিত্ত্বের অন্বেষনে ছড়িয়ে দিয়েছেন মরনের এই ভাবের আলোপ। উনি দেখালেন নিস্প্রান লাশের হাজিরা কিভাবে জিন্দা মরদদেরও ঠেলে দেয় অস্তিত্বের অতলান্তে। লাশ যখন জীবিত ছিল, জ্যান্ত তরতাজা ছিল তখন একেবারে প্রথমে সে মহাকাশে কোন ব্ল্যাকহোলে জন্মায় নাই, মায়ের গর্ভেই ফুলের মতোন ফুটতে থাকে। এরপরে সেই গর্ভ ছেদ করেই তাকে ছুঁতে হয় মাটি, নিতে হয় মাটির স্বোদা গন্ধ। যেই মানব সত্ত্বাকে (Da-sein) ছুঁড়ে দেয়া হয়েছিলো, তার আশেপাশে আরো অনেক অস্তিত্ত্বময় সত্ত্বা এবং বস্তু ও জিনিসপত্র। আবার এই জগতে তার আবির্ভাব শর্তহীন অসীম অনিত্য নয়। বরং জগত জীবনের অন্য সব কিছুর মতোই নিত্য, সীমাবদ্ধ, কিন্তু সম্পর্কিত।
